GEO in Focus
Disease, disabilities and inadequate health care are inextricably related to poverty. Although poverty and disease form an interwoven cycle that is not easily broken, many of the diseases and conditions that are part of this cycle are preventable through sustained access to better health care, and strong health care delivery systems.
The core goal of Global ENT Outreach (GEO) is to support efforts that will reduce the burden of ear diseases- a hidden disability- in developing and low-income countries. GEO priorities are first to train ENT doctors in developing countries to become self sustaining in basic otologic surgery, second to provide surgery to the underserved that suffer from the disabilities of hearing loss and ear disease so that they can have access to education and work, the tools needed to fulfill their human potential, and third to provide to medical students, ENT residents, fellows, and practicing ENT international humanitarian service opportunities.
